From the sundrenched beaches of the South, through to the rugged and wild mountains or the Pyrenees, Spain has appealed to the UK travel market like no other destination. Today, large numbers of tourists travel to Spain on a daily basis from airports throughout the UK, as they seek to find their slice of the Mediterranean dream lifestyle.
So what is it about Spain that appeals so much to the UK holidaymaker?
Without doubt, the very heart of Spain’s appeal lies within its warm Mediterranean climate, which offers year round sunshine, despite being located just two hours flying time from the UK. This, plus the proliferation of cheap flights to Spain from the vast majority of airports throughout the UK, means that traveling to Spain to both low cost and easily accessible. Indeed, with fuel prices now at an all time high, it is likely that a long weekend in Spain is likely to cost less than a weekend in either Devon or Cornwall for the average family. Understandably, this market for extended breaks in destinations such as Alicante and Malaga has lead to an increased demand for holiday rental property in Spain in recent years, as families look to take more control over their long weekends and holidays.
As a result of the large increase in people travelling to the country’s numerous Mediterranean resorts, the demand for property in Spain has also been particularly robust over the past twenty years. Whilst the recent economic turmoil has undoubtedly taken its toll, the signs are that the Spanish property market is now beginning to plateau, and many see 2012 as a turning point for the countries hugely important construction industry.
